Bunker Mentality

Boxing and an easy 6k

Sat 29 Aug 2026 28 days to go

Today's training was boxing with Paul, my boxing coach. I did 1000m on the rower as a warm-up. I didn't feel great today, so I was moaning a bit about not feeling on top form, but actually I did okay once we got going.

I did 6 rounds on the pads, all of them with the weighted gloves. They're 24oz gloves by Heavy Hitters, and in previous weeks I've had to take those gloves off and go for my normal gloves because they're hard. Today I kept them on for all of the rounds on the pads, which obviously shows that my shoulder endurance and stamina have been getting back on track since my holiday. I'm still trying to get back to the level of fitness I had before my holiday, but that represented progress.

We also did some sparring, 4 rounds, just jab sparring. I did quite a few rounds today: 10 rounds in total. They were all 3-minute rounds with 1-minute rests.

After that I did a bodyweight circuit, twice round: 6 pull-ups, 12 dips, 24 press-ups, 12 hanging leg raises. It took me a long time to bash out the dips and press-ups, which normally I can do pretty easily, but after all of the boxing my arms were just completely wrecked.

Then we went out for a run, easy pace, 35 minutes. We covered just under 6km.
